There are many different kratom drinks available on the market, from canned kratom seltzers to kratom shots.
What many people don’t realize, however, is that you can save a lot of money by making your own kratom drinks at home.
Why Make Kratom Cocktails Instead of Using Alcohol?
Tea is a great alternative for alcohol in cocktails because it adds a bit of bitterness and depth. You won’t get this if you just make a cocktail with all the ingredients except alcohol.
Most tea-infused cocktails are made with decaf black tea or herbal teas without much function, but with these kratom drinks, you’ll get all of the mental and physical effects of brewed kratom leaves.
That’s why we call the recipes below cocktails, not just mocktails, because they have noticeable effects, unlike most NA apéritifs and “adaptogenic mocktails” you see at the supermarket.
Why Use Brewed Tea Instead of Kratom Drink Mixes or Kratom Powder for Kratom Cocktails?
You may be able to find a kratom powder drink mix online. It might be faster to pour a kratom drink mix into a glass than it is to make kratom tea recipes from scratch. However, kratom drink mixes comes with some drawbacks.
- Tea has no additives or fillers. Kratom powder drink mixes often have additives, fillers, and preservatives, from propylene glycol to sucralose to silicon dioxide. If you prefer to avoid these ingredients, opt for all-natural raw leaf kratom or kratom blended with organic herbs and spices.
- Tea has the full range of alkaloids. Many kratom powder drink mixes are made with either a kratom extract powder that contains only mitragynine.
- Brewed tea is smooth, not gritty. Many kratom cocktail mixes contain a powder that don’t dissolve well in your kratom drink; the same goes for regular kratom powder.
That said, if you’re trying to use up some kratom powder in your cabinet, or you ran out of kratom tea bags, you can make the recipes below with powder or different types of kratom.
