Chai Maple Tea Recipe Notes
- Kratom-Free Version: If you want to try this maple chai tea recipe without kratom, just swap the Chai Unwind tea bag for another masala chai spice tea bag. If you plan on brewing in the evening, we recommend picking an herbal chai blend or a decaf chai so it’s caffeine free.
- Plain Kratom Tea Version: If you have plain kratom tea bags on hand, you can easily make a 4-ingredient version of this recipe. Add the kratom tea bags to your thermos, steep for 8-13 minutes, then add one herbal chai tea bag (2-3 grams) and steep for another 7 minutes. If you like a stronger chai flavor, you can add the chai in earlier.
- Use Sweetened Creamer: The maple syrup provides plenty of sweetness, so we recommend using an unsweetened creamer. If all you have on hand is sweetened creamer, we recommend cutting back on the maple syrup or omitting it entirely. You’ll lose the maple flavor, but the chai spices can still carry the team.
- Make-Ahead Non-Dairy Maple Creamer: We fell hard for the homemade maple creamer, so we started keeping a small jar of it in the fridge to grab for our kratom tea and coffee. Just add 2 parts maple syrup and 3 parts unsweetened creamer or heavy cream to a jar and stir to combine. Store in the fridge for up to a week. Stir for a couple of seconds before using.
