Kratom is the common name of Mitragyna speciosa, a tree native to Southeast Asia. In Thailand and other nearby regions, people have traditionally brewed tea using kratom leaves, or plucked the leaves off of the trees and chewed on them. This has been done for hundreds (possibly even thousands) of years.
In the United States, many people buy kratom in the form of powder or extracts. At Top Tree, we’re going back to the roots: we think that kratom is best when made into tea—no swallowing powder or chugging extracts. Our kratom tea can be brewed into a normal cuppa that you can have at work, at home, or anywhere else.

Every person is different, and the type of kratom tea that each person should drink is a truly individual question. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer to what type of kratom tea will be best for you. That being said, vein color and serving size are each factors in determining how kratom will benefit you.
Generally, people drink white vein kratom tea for energy and mood boosts. People typically drink red vein kratom teas for relaxation and bodily effects. Green veins are an intermediate option between white and red.
While vein colors are associated with these varying benefits, serving size may play a large role as well. Smaller serving sizes have been used to produce energizing effects, while larger serving sizes have been used to promote relief from bodily aches and improve socializing.

Already bought tea? Each box of tea has basic brewing instructions on the back!
We like to answer this question by comparing kratom to coffee.
Kratom tea is similar in strength to black coffee or café au lait. (Comparatively, some kratom extract shots are like a triple espresso or a caffeine pill.) That means you’ll get the kratom benefits you love without easily overdoing it.
Like with black coffee, you can make a lighter or stronger cup of kratom tea brew by using different brewing techniques. Check out these guides to learn more about how to make strong kratom tea:
Nope! Kratom doesn’t contain any caffeine, but it can support your morning energy and motivation just like a cup of coffee! The effects of kratom typically don’t last as long as coffee, which is why it’s a great alternative that you can drink later in the day.
To get these wake-up-and-get-moving benefits, we recommend drinking a smaller serving of kratom tea. Larger servings of kratom tea typically provide more relaxing and relieving effects.
Our tea bags are made of plant fiber and are plastic-free.
The tea bags are sealed using heat, so they don’t have any glue or staples, either.
Kava is a type of pepper plant (Piper methysticum).
The plant’s roots contain a high concentration of compounds called kavalactones, which tend to support mental calm and physical unwinding.
Kava plants grow throughout the South Pacific. Communities on South Pacific islands have used kava in ceremonial rituals for centuries.
We use a premium kava extract. Unlike plain kava powder, which you have to knead for a long time to release the active compounds (kavalactones), our kava extract is formulated with a high concentration of kavalactones.
That means you can mix it directly into a drink or take it in a capsule. You don’t have to knead it or do any other sort of preparation.
We recommend taking kava in the evening. Kava is commonly used as an alternative to alcohol in cocktails and late-night brews.
Whether or not kava will make you sleepy depends on the person, the serving size, and the setting.
Smaller amounts (one or two servings) may feel more social or relaxing, while larger amounts may feel heavier.
Kava is usually felt fairly quickly, often within about 20 to 40 minutes. Timing can vary depending on the product, serving size, and whether you’ve eaten recently. Your kava will typically take effect faster if you have it on a relatively empty stomach.
Yes, you can drink kava instead of alcohol. Many kava fans choose to drink it in the evening or in social settings where alcohol would typically be served.
Note that if you are avoiding alcohol for certain health reasons or you want to avoid products with mental effects, kava may not be a good fit for you. Speak with your doctor before trying kava, especially if you have any health conditions or are taking any medications.
We make our kratom capsules with pure kratom powder. They do not contain any fillers, additives, or extracts.
The outer capsules are vegetable-derived and are 100% plant-based. They are made without gelatin or any other animal-derived ingredients, and they’re also made without gluten (though they aren’t certified gluten-free).
To pick the right capsules, most people start by choosing a vein color and then adjusting serving size based on how they respond.
In general, white vein capsules are often chosen for a more upbeat, motivating feel. Red vein capsules are usually preferred for a calmer, more soothing experience. Green vein capsules are often seen as the middle path, offering a more balanced profile that doesn’t lean quite as far in either direction.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that serving size can noticeably shape your experience with kratom capsules. A smaller amount may feel more bright or functional, while a larger amount may feel heavier, more relaxing, or more body-focused.
Because everyone responds a little differently, it can take some experimentation to figure out what fits best. For a deeper look at how vein colors and so-called “strains” are often misunderstood, check out this Better Brewing Blog article on the myth of kratom strains.

We exceed the standards of the American Kratom Association for Good Manufacturing Practices, and are proud to have been the first kratom company to do a multi-panel test to determine the profile of eight different alkaloids in our kratom.
We care deeply about the quality and safety of our products, and are committed to providing kratom that is free of heavy metals and other contaminants.
If you’ve been a long-time fan of kratom, you may have noticed that the effects of a particular strain (like Green Elephant, or Red Bali) aren’t always consistent between batches or when purchased from different companies.
There are a lot of claims made about how kratom leaf strains are determined, from their countries of origin to their genetics to their physical descriptions. However, for the most part, these claims aren’t based in fact—they’re just myths used for marketing purposes, and they’re often deceptive and unreliable.
Kratom strains don’t tell you as much about what your kratom’s effects will be as other important factors, like the alkaloid profile or the serving size. That’s why our newest kratom teas don’t have strain names.
