September flew by as usual, and we’re clinging to summertime’s lightness and brightness with all of our might. Don’t get us wrong, we love fall, but sometimes it feels like it rolls in a bit too quickly. So we created a sippable substitute for summer sunshine: a DIY orange vanilla seltzer recipe with a mood-boosting kratom base.
The bubbles and orange add brightness, while the vanilla adds some mellow warmth and coziness. Together they’re a fitting combination for an ice cold drink on a not-as-warm-as-we-wish-it-was evening.
Better Than Hard Seltzer: Booze-Free But Effective
If you wound up here looking for a spiked orange seltzer, don’t click the back button yet. Our recipe doesn’t have alcohol, but it isn’t your average mocktail. The base of this seltzer is freshly brewed kratom tea, which can provide a nice upbeat feeling without making you feel intoxicated.
(And for anyone who is trying to abstain from all psychoactive drinks, you can swap out the kratom iced tea in this recipe with a different herbal tea variety like rooibos, lemon & ginger, or peach.)

Make Your Orange Vanilla Seltzer Faster
- Tip: Brew and chill a big batch of tea in advance of when you need it, so you can make drinks quickly when you want them
When you make vanilla orange seltzer from scratch, it takes a little while to brew and then chill the tea. However, if you prep multiple servings of concentrated kratom tea in advance and store it in the fridge, then you can whip up this recipe in under 5 minutes.
If you choose to batch brew your tea, you may want to brew it without any orange juice so you can use the tea in a variety of recipes. When making the orange vanilla seltzer recipe, you can add the OJ to your chilled tea with the sweetener and vanilla when you mix the ingredients together (before topping everything with seltzer).

Orange Vanilla Seltzer Recipe Notes
- Leftovers: You can easily make a big batch of this DIY seltzer recipe to last for a few days. Add the flavored seltzer to your glass right before serving the drinks—that way the seltzer won’t go flat in the fridge.
- Flavor Alternatives: You can easily swap out some of the ingredients in the orange vanilla kratom seltzer recipe to create a brand-new drink. Swap the orange juice for lime juice, use ginger root instead of vanilla bean, try a different seltzer flavor like watermelon or blackberry…
