We created this vanilla ginger kratom iced tea cocktail with après-ski energy in mind. The recipe is smooth, sweet, and spicy (a holy trinity of evening wind-down drinks for spring, when you want an iced drink but you aren’t quite ready to pack away all the cozy stuff yet).
Instead of alcohol, it has calming red vein kratom tea, so you’ll still get that buzzy feeling of a classic cocktail. (Side note: you don’t need to use red vein tea, you can use any vein color of kratom tea bags or loose leaf kratom tea you want.)

Vanilla Ginger Iced Kratom Tea Cocktail
Prep time: 3 minutes
Steep time: 15-25 minutes
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 2 Unwind red vein kratom tea bags or 6 g loose leaf red vein kratom tea
- 1 cup (8 oz) water
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp ginger syrup, more or less to taste (see notes for suggestions and sugar-free alternatives)
- 2 cups ice (or 2 large cocktail cubes)
Equipment
- Tea thermos
- Electric kettle (or stovetop kettle or microwave)
- If making loose leaf: tea filter or metal strainer (if your thermos doesn’t have one)
Directions
- Add tea bags or loose leaf tea to your thermos. Bring water to a boil and pour it into the thermos. Leave to steep for 15-25 minutes.
- If using tea bags: Remove the tea bags. If using loose leaf: Pour your tea through a strainer into a heat-safe container.
- Stir in ginger syrup and vanilla extract.
- Optional: If you want your tea to stay more concentrated, you can transfer it to a jar to chill in the fridge for 15-30 minutes.
- Divide tea between two glasses, add ice, and enjoy.
Notes
Ginger Syrup Options: We used syrup from the Ginger People (not sponsored, we just love their syrup!), but you can use any variety you’d like. If you don’t have ginger syrup or can’t find it at the store, you can brew your kratom tea with fresh ginger instead (for each serving, use a 1-inch piece of ginger root, thinly sliced), and then add raw cane sugar to taste.
Sugar-Free Version: Instead of using a ginger simple syrup, brew your tea with freshly sliced ginger root and either leave it unsweetened, or add a few drops of a stevia extract or other sugar alternative. For each serving, use a 1″ piece of ginger. Remove the ginger with a slotted spoon or filter your tea with a fine mesh strainer before combining it with the other ingredients.
