Where to Buy Kratom Tea?

So you’ve decided to make the switch to kratom tea. Great, you’ve come to the right place! In this post we break down where to buy kratom tea, how to choose a vendor, and why you should buy your kratom tea online.

If you know which type of kratom tea bags and methods you’d like to use in your brew, jump down for info on choosing a vendor. Not sure yet? Continue reading to learn a bit more about the brewing process and all of your options.

Getting Started with Kratom Tea

First things first, the best way to make kratom tea is with kratom tea bags. We’re admittedly biased, as kratom tea bags are our entire focus, but it’s for a good reason: it’s the best way to avoid a sludgy kratom “tea” that is actually powder mixed into water or juice. Before we settled on tea bags, we experimented extensively with different ways to make kratom tea.

We tried every recipe out there for kratom tea made from powder, and they were all, in a word, gross. From the grainy powdery texture, to the super-bitter earthy taste, it was always far worse than simple toss & wash or capsules. Considering kratom has been used for hundreds of years as a tea, we knew something was off. Was this the traditional method for brewing kratom tea?

After bringing the question to a tea sommelier — the same person who ended up designing our kratom blends — we quickly figured out what the problem was. First, if you put kratom powder into a tea bag, the powder clogs the pores of the paper, so you don’t get a good extraction. If you instead use a french press, you still get micronized powder in the final brew, because it’s too fine to get fully strained out.

Our sommelier’s solution was simple: use crushed leaf kratom with tea bags. That way, you get all the alkaloids with none of the powder. By removing the need to consume any kratom powder, a whole new world of kratom tea emerges. You can actually make a delicious kratom tea that strikes the balance between taste and effect. But there’s a caveat — you have to follow certain steps to make the perfect cup of kratom tea!

How to Make Kratom Tea

We’ve spent the last two years focusing exclusively on kratom tea brewing. We’ve had the privilege of being able to experiment, share our findings with our community, and modify recommendations accordingly. And by adding lab testing to the equation, we’ve learned how to maximize the amount of alkaloids in your tea.

The best part of buying kratom in tea bags is that it’s super easy to make! Here’s how you make a convenient, delicious, and effective cup of kratom tea. Starting with the equipment, you’ll need a vacuum insulated tea (or coffee) thermos and an electric or stovetop tea kettle (or another way to heat water).

While your water is heating, add 1-3 kratom tea bags to your thermos with a couple splashes of lemon juice. Once your water is boiling, add it to your tea thermos, seal it up, and set your timer to between 20 and 30 minutes. After 20 minutes, pour out your first cup of tea, sweeten (we love using CBD honey) and enjoy!

If you’re normally rushed in the morning, we recommend setting up your tea the night prior, right before bed. It’s completely fine to leave it steeping overnight.

To get the most out of your tea bags, we recommend rebrewing the same tea bags again. All you need to do is add more hot water to your thermos and wait another 30 minutes – the longer the better. If you use 3+ tea bags in your initial steep, you can actually get 3 good thermoses of tea before needing new tea bags.

The only thing to note is that each tea will be slightly weaker than the one prior. Still effective, just not as strong as the first steep.

How to Choose a Kratom Strain

The first step in deciding where to buy kratom tea is figuring out what effect you’re looking for. If you want energy, for example, you should consider starting with a white vein kratom tea, like Uplift or Cacao Uplift.

Alternatively, if you’re trying to relax after a long day, you’re probably going to find better value from a Unwind red vein kratom tea – one of the most popular kratom tea strains out there.

After picking a strain, the next question is where and how you’re going to brew. Are you at work or at home (or WFH)? Do you have a stove, or do you need to brew on-the-go? Making kratom tea involves a few steps, so it’s helpful to plan out how you intend to brew before you order your kratom.

Now it’s time to decide which kind of kratom tea you want to make.

Different Types of Kratom Tea

Broadly speaking, you can make kratom tea from either fresh leaves, dried crushed leaf, or kratom powder. These are the foundations of different types of kratom tea. Regardless of which type of kratom you’re working with, you’ll need to strain the plant material from your final product.

Kratom Tea Bags

As we said before, kratom tea bags are our favorite way to brew kratom tea. They’re convenient for home or work. They come in pre-made servings so it’s easy to standardize your brewing. And they eliminate the need for other (sometimes costly) brewing equipment, like a french press or cheesecloth.

Our favorite method for kratom tea bags is to brew in a vacuum thermos, with lemon and honey. Any thermos will work, but if you don’t have one on hand, grab a Top Tree Spill-Proof Thermos from us.

French Press

If you’re already a coffee drinker, you might like the french press approach. The process is similar to brewing coffee: you add your kratom powder or crushed leaf to the french press, add water and let it brew for 20 minutes.

We prefer crushed leaf for this as it strains better, but you can still use kratom powder if that’s what’s available. Don’t forget your lemon!

Stove Top

If you’re at home, brewing on the stove is a great option. It’s not a fundamentally different process than the other steps. And it gives you the ability to boil off water and create a concentrated kratom tea.

If you don’t like the flavor of kratom, we recommend using the stovetop method – all you do is boil off 75% of the water and add the kratom tea concentrate to your favorite beverage, like lemonade or sweet tea.

RTD Kratom Tea

We’ve seen a few premade kratom tea products out there. And it’s definitely a great option for on-the-go. Even though you lose the benefits of the entourage effect with a mitragynine focused tea, if you don’t have time to brew, RTD kratom tea is the next best option.

After deciding how to brew, the last question is where to buy kratom tea? Or in other words, which vendor should you go with?

Choosing a Kratom Tea Vendor

Generally speaking, there are a few main boxes you want to check before working with a new kratom tea vendor. You want to confirm: (1) that their kratom is lab tested, (2) they offer crushed leaf kratom, (3) you can order online, (4) they’re available to answer questions, and (5) they work with an AKA—American Kratom Association— verified supplier.

If you didn’t notice, most of our recommendation are for buying kratom tea online. We point this out because, as a general rule of thumb, you’ll get better quality kratom online than from a local kratom retailer — many of whom resell cheap imported kratom without doing proper product testing.

After the initial due diligence, next thing is placing an order. For beginners, we recommend green vein kratom tea as it is our most popular tea.

Once you try a few strains and decide which is right for your needs, you’re pretty much done! And if the none of the strains work, which can happen, repeat the process with another kratom vendor. The more willing you are to experiment, the higher the chances of finding the perfect kratom vendor for you!

From here, all you need to do is test a few kratom tea recipes and dial in your brew process.

Conclusion

As kratom tea continues growing in popularity, more people are asking. Where can I buy kratom tea near me? It’s a great question, and as we hope is now clear, we recommend starting online and finding a vendor there.

If you want kratom tea bags, like our Top Tree Tea, this is even more true – there are almost no kratom retailers with ready-to-brew kratom tea bags. Regardless of who you ultimately go with, we hope this post helps you in the process. And until next time, cheers to better brewing!
