2022 Kratom Quality Control Update!
Have you ever stopped to think about what might be in your kratom? If you are like us, the quality of your kratom is top priority.
As many of you know, the big concern is contaminants in kratom. Even though the industry is moving in the right direction, there aren’t universal quality standards, so we wanted to shed some light on the topic.
Whether your concerns are heavy metals or mold contamination, this post is for you. You’ll learn why kratom testing is important, how we test our crushed leaf, and what quality assurance means in kratom.
And remember, when it comes to Top Tree tea, we only use rigorously tested, premium crushed leaf kratom – clean, quality, consistent.
Self Regulating Quality Standards
When it comes to regulating quality standards in kratom, Instagram presents a real problem. Stay with us here. Have you ever been bombarded with DMs from kratom farmers after following your favorite kratom brand?
If you’ve been around for a while, the answer is probably yes. It’s a facet of kratom’s social media presence that we’re all learning to live with.
These accounts give us a behind the scenes look at the multitudes of practices, products, and personalities that make up the first link of the global kratom supply chain. At the same time, they raise a lot of questions about the quality of kratom available in the world today.
There are photographs of men smoking in small rooms next to shelves of freshly harvested kratom. If that weren’t enough, the photos themselves raise questions. Are people handling their phones and then packaging kratom? Do they realize that’s one of the dirtiest surfaces? Is anyone overseeing this?!
We think it’s safe to say, when you order from unreputable vendors, there’s no telling if anyone was upholding health standards in the production process.
Current Good Manufacturing Practices
Once you learn why this process exists, the thought of kratom being handled in anything less than current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) will immediately turn you away. And for good reason.
Protecting the health of consumers as well as producing quality products is the intention of Good Manufacturing Practices. We pay a premium for our crushed leaf because of how it’s harvested and processed.
In addition to our own testing, we source from an AKA GMP certified vendor who follows the cGMP standards set by the industry. Another reason why our customers place their trust in us. In our view, working with AKA audited vendors is a necessary part of sourcing quality kratom if the US today.
As part of this certification, vendors must thoroughly test all batches of kratom for contamination and quality. The analysis is done to ensure there is no mold or heavy metals and confirm the amount of mitragynine and 7-OH-mitragynine.
From there, the kratom goes through a manufacturing process that ensures no pathogens are introduced to the product. That means everyone wears gloves, the environment is clean, and everything is done based on standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The fact that the kratom industry has created a cGMP program is a great sign for consumers. An even better sign, however, is what companies like us are doing to go above and beyond to provide the cleanest product possible.
What Sets Top Tree Herbs Apart
We’ll keep this short because the takeaway is more important than the process. Our crushed leaf kratom goes through more than what the GMP testing requires!
- Our AKA cGMP supplier tests 15x more samples from each lot than are required to make sure the samples are representative of the whole batch. In addition to retesting each batch after we receive it, we also conduct 8-panel alkaloid testing to help improve our understanding of each tea’s potential benefits and effects.
- Our kratom must test negative for pathogens and heavy metals two times over before we will even consider sending it to you
- And coming soon, we’ll be including mitragynine % & COAs with every order so you can see testing information at a moment’s notice
The Benefit of Drinking Kratom Tea
Did you know hospitals use boiling water for certain sterilization processes? They do this because boiling water kills microorganisms. And when it comes to hot kratom tea, the sample principle applies.
How to make simple kratom tea:
We recommend putting your kratom tea bags and some acidic fruit juice in a thermos with boiling water for 20 minutes before drinking it. This isn’t due to any safety concerns, however, it’s just to maximize the solubility of the active alkaloids in your tea.
Alternatively, you can make a kratom tea decoction. A decoction involves leaving the kratom tea bags in a pot of boiling water for around 10 minutes, which again helps extract mitragynine and other like alkaloids from the crushed leaf.
Both of these methods are delicious and strong, reasons why we consider these methods to be the correct ways to make kratom tea. But from a strictly health and safety perspective, you are matching the standards laid out for sterilizing glassware in laboratories.
It really boils down to one simple idea: a food product absolutely must be clean. In a world as big as ours, it’s hard to stay on top of things like quality assurance. There are a lot of factors that you need to consider.
Choose Top Tree Herbs as your kratom provider, we’ll take that burden off of your shoulders. If you’re ready to give kratom tea a try, head to our online store and try a tea today!
