Frothing milk for an easy kratom matcha latte to support energy and focus

Matcha Kratom Latte: Power Your Morning with Natural Energy

Ever looked at your morning coffee and thought, “You and I both know you’re not cutting it anymore?” Well, it’s time to introduce some excitement back into your morning ritual with a drink that’s so intriguing and delicious, it might just make your coffee pot jealous: the matcha kratom latte.

When Matcha Met Kratom: A Love Story for the Ages

Matcha and kratom are a power couple born out of centuries of cultural heritage and a shared mission to energize and enlighten. A kratom matcha latte doesn’t just wake you up; it practically gives you a pep talk, encouraging you to seize the day.

Matcha: this powdered prodigy hails from Japan. There, it’s been the centerpiece of the tea ceremony—a ritual of grace, mindfulness, and hospitality. Its consumption dates back to the 12th century.

The best matcha for a kratom latte
For the best kratom matcha latte, choose high-quality matcha. While ceremonial grade matcha typically has the best flavor and health benefits, daily grade matcha is perfect for lattes.

Rich in antioxidants, particularly catechins, matcha offers numerous health benefits in addition to its mild energizing effects.

Kratom: Hailing from Southeast Asia, kratom also has a few tricks up its sleeve. It’s able to dial up your energy or bring you calm, depending on how much you decide to drink.

Unlike matcha, kratom doesn’t contain caffeine, but it still has similar effects. Smaller amounts of kratom can provide a noticeable energy boost, improve focus, and help you stay upbeat on tough days.

You can make your kratom latte with crushed-leaf kratom or powder. Keep in mind that kratom is a lot grittier than matcha, and doesn’t dissolve as well in water. For the smoothest and creamiest latte, use steeped kratom tea instead of powder.

What You’ll Need for Your Hot Kratom Matcha Latte

The ingredients list for this latte recipe is simple. What matters most for making a great latte is the quality of the kratom and the matcha.

Both matcha and kratom quality can vary greatly. To make sure you’re getting the best quality kratom and matcha, look for brands that do lab testing to check their products for contaminants and heavy metals.

  • High-quality matcha powder: Matcha comes in varying grades which indicate harvesting and processing conditions. Ceremonial-grade matcha has the best flavor and health benefits, but since you’ll be mixing the matcha with other ingredients, daily grade matcha will do just fine.
  • High-quality kratom tea or powder: Like matcha, not all kratom has the same quality or flavor. Brew kratom tea for an ultra-smooth and less-bitter latte or micronized powder for quicker preparation. For energy and focus, white or green vein kratom is recommended.
  • Milk of the moment: Any variety works, but let’s be honest, the more plants, the better.
  • Sweetener: Depending upon how sweet your milk is (or how much you love the earthy flavors of matcha and kratom), you may want to add a touch of maple syrup or creamer.
Kratom matcha latte ingredients and equipment: milk, tea, vanilla matcha powder, plus a thermos and a frother.
All you’ll need for this latte recipe are three simple, high-quality ingredients: matcha, kratom, and your milk of choice. You can also add a bit of maple syrup for added sweetness if desired.

Preparing your matcha kratom latte is simple. If you’re a matcha traditionalist, grab your chasen. If you don’t have one, don’t worry—you can make do with a handheld frother.

First, brew a strong cup of kratom tea. Or, if you’re using kratom powder, heat up your water and add the kratom powder to it. Then, add a scoop of matcha. Whisk or froth to combine the matcha and kratom. Heat and froth your milk, then pour it over the matcha tea and kratom tea combo.

Double the Green, Double the Benefits

Brewing a matcha kratom latte is about taking the time to enjoy the process, not just the end result. It’s a chance to experiment with flavors and treat yourself to a moment of peace before the day rolls out the red carpet of chaos.

This latte isn’t just a tasty morning drink; it’s an intentional lifestyle choice with science-backed benefits. Here are a few notable advantages this lean, green recipe has to offer:

  • Heightened motivation and focus: the energizing alkaloids found in kratom and matcha work in different ways, and the moderation of each can help you get sustained energy without the jitteriness or crash.
  • Antioxidant properties: Both matcha and kratom are categorized as having very strong antioxidant activity.
  • Mood enhancement: Kratom is known for supporting mood and providing relief from daily challenges. Matcha contains L-theanine, an amino acid known to promote relaxation.
Keep in mind that while matcha powder and kratom each have a wide range of wellness benefits, they aren’t right for everyone. It never hurts to check in with your physician before you add new botanicals to your routine.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. OPTION 1—Kratom Tea in a Thermos/Mug: Add the tea bag and 4oz of boiling water to your double wall glass mug or tea thermos. Cap the mug and allow the tea to steep for 15-20 minutes, then remove the tea bag.
  2. OPTION 2—Stovetop Kratom Tea: Add your tea bag and 1 cup cold water to a saucepan. Bring it to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and keep over heat for 15-20 minutes, until about 1/2 cup of tea remains. Remove the tea bag and pour the tea into an insulated mug.
  3. OPTION 3—Kratom Powder: Heat 4oz of water to 180-190°F in a mug. Add in the kratom powder.
  4. Add the matcha: Add the matcha powder to the mug and whisk or froth with an electric frother until there are no clumps remaining.
  5. Prepare the milk: Heat and froth the milk. Pour it over the tea and stir to combine.

Notes

Kratom Type: Even the best kratom powder can be very bitter and gritty. For the smoothest and tastiest latte, use crushed-leaf kratom tea bags.

White vein or green vein kratom strains and smaller serving sizes are typically recommended for more motivating and focus-enhancing effects.

Matcha: Any matcha you have at home will be great in this recipe, but if you’re looking for a recommendation, we’ve got one. We used a ceremonial grade vanilla matcha from Matcha.com. It not only has great a flavor, aroma, and texture, but it’s also lab-tested for quality and purity.

Only have plain matcha on hand but still want your latte to have a hint of vanilla flavor? Just add 1/8 tsp vanilla extract to your tea.

Milk: We used a lightly sweetened soy milk for this recipe because it’s thick and creamy, and it froths easily. We also love making it with oat milk or a high-fat nut milk.
